Illustration Friday: Talisman
strategic plan 22 x30 lithographic print on BFK RivesHe appeared confident in all situations
Here's the my actual stone being inked up. Lithography is like anti-printmaking. It is so odd to keep the stone soaking wet while you ink it up. All the signs that tell you a print is ready to be pulled are muffled in this process; it's the water. It totally threw me off. I think it could take many years to really understand this process. Interesting.
Here's the first print coming off the stone. It was a good one too. I was lucky, (must have had a talisman of my own that day), cause I don't know much about this process yet, so it sure wasn't a success due to skill!

Illustration Friday: Clandestine
In a clandestine agreement, the "Doctor" and his "patient" agreed that in order to sell their new weightloss plan all she needed to do was to pose in some really big pants.
Tired of being dictated to by Martha Stewart, Deb and Jen held a clandestine meeting after yoga class and decided to go forward with their plan to thwart the Cookie of the Month celebrations, but they could not decide whether they favored the Spotted Dick or Yogo treats.

Illustration Friday: Strings

I'm working on a project using painting with light techniques. It looks a lot like strings, except they are made of light. This is an image showing a 1926 photograph of my grandmother and my aunt, who had a turbulent relationship with each other. They were tied to each other but sometimes it was a bit messy... and not so great for those around them.
HOW TO: Painting with light is done by setting your subject up in a completely dark space and then taking a light source and moving it around your subject while the camera is taking the picture. I used a laser pointer here and had a small flashlight shining onto the top center of the scene. Your camera must be on a tripod and the shutter speed is set very slow, like a minute or more, ISO at about 100. Because the shutter is open for a long time the camera will pick up all the movements you make with the light, creating lines wherever you move the light.
